I'm beginning to accept the highlights.
There's nothing wrong with them.
He did a really great job.
They're just not me.
They do make me look more put together and older, though.
Schucks.
Does this mean I have to grow up now?
I am sparing you the sight of my hair down.
Too many layers.
We all know what David Bowie looks like.
Business in the front, party in the back, anyone?
ON TO OTHER BIDNESS.
Remember my raving and ranting about the Bahia Vegetable Stew I ate like a million times while in Hawaii last summer?
I've spent the last year searching and searching and searching for a recipe, to no avail.
I had the ingredients from the restaurant's online menu.
But had no idea about the process.
When faced with this sort of dilemma, I usually just dive right in and try to figure it out.
Mixing this.
Mixing that.
Trial and Error Kitchen Style.
But something kept me from attempting the Bahia Vegetable Stew.
I didn't want to ruin the memory of it, I think.
It was that perfect.
Finally, though.
The cravings were too intense.
Had something to do with the fact that it's the anniversary week of last year's trip, I think...
(Meka Leka SIGH Meka Hiney Ho HUM.)
So I went to the store and I bought all the ingredients listed on the online menu and went to the kitchen and donned my apron and grabbed a knife and wooden spoon and a big pot and then got tired so I had to sit down on the couch and pet Dorothy and then I heard my stomach grumble and so I got up and washed my hands and then dove right on in.
I COULD JUST KICK MYSELF.
It came out perfect.
So perfect, I could actually hear the Hawaiian waves and Higgin's fake British accent.
Recipe below:
Bahia Vegetable Stew
-Yellow Onion
-Celery
-Carrots
-Green, Red Bell Peppers
-Zucchini
-Hot Pepper
-Potatoes
-Crushed Tomatoes, canned
-Garlic
-Coconut Milk
-Salt, Pepper
-Brown Rice
Saute onions, celery, carrots, bell peppers, zucchini, and hot pepper in oil and salt. Start with the onions, and then as you dice up the remaining vegetables, add along the way. Add tomatoes, a can of water, coconut milk, and cloves of garlic. Salt and pepper to taste. Bring to a boil. Then, saute until all vegetables are soft. (Note: unlike regular milk, coconut milk can boil and saute for long periods of time without going all yucky, so let it saute for a long time, it'll only get better.) Prepare brown rice. Add rice to bowl of soup to make the best stew you'll ever ever ever had. Ever. Ever. I can't say this enough. Obviously.
ON TO OTHER BIDNESS.
REALLY, THIS TIME, I'M ACTUALLY BEING LITERAL.
Because.
You see.
It has been 6 months exactly.
Working at The Library.
Holy Moly.
This is sort of a big deal for me.
Go ahead and applaud if you feel moved to.
